Published: 30 Jan 2023

Although raki is Turkey's national alcoholic beverage, young people primarily prefer alternative types of beer. Therefore, we'd like to present the top Turkish beers.

Turkish beer is typically preferred by consumers to chill during conversations with friends, dates, or alone time.

Beer is among the most popular alcoholic beverages in Turkey, despite the conservative attitudes about alcohol and the recently implemented laws.

The Finest Turkish Beers You'll Enjoy

Turkish consumers can choose from a variety of regional, global, and domestic beer brands. Each brand of beer differs from the others in terms of alcohol content, ingredients, and drinking. Making a list of the top Turkish beer brands is challenging because preference varies from person to person, yet an agreed average may still be discussed. (Turkey's beer may be summed up by one word: Efes.) So, let's look at the top Turkish beers and their distinguishing qualities together!

Basically, there are two categories into which we can split beers. Lager Turkish beer and ale Turkish beer have various taste ratios and fermentation processes. Ale Turkish beers typically taste stronger and more bitter. Lager beers, however, are light tipples with a fruity flavor that are easy to drink. Pilsner beer is typically preferred in Turkey. Pilsner is a light-hopped pale lager with a crisp, refreshing flavor. The town of Pilsen (Plze) is where it was first brewed. We can claim that the malt and bitter taste stand out more in this style of beer. Of course, lager and ale aren't the only types of beer that are among the greatest. Each beer develops its distinct qualities because of the several sub-fermented types. The top breweries are listed below:

EFES

Nobody can come up with a list of the top Turkish beers without including Efes Pilsen. It is a well-known and native brand of Turkish beer. Efes Pilsen is the most popular Turkish beer brand. ZIKKIM

In Turkish slang, the word "zikkim" has a rather contemptuous connotation. If you irritate a Turk, they could advise you to "eat the roots of the oleander plant," which are poisonous, by saying "Zikkimin kokunu ye." But the beer has such a wonderful, silky flavor that you will want to put up with this insult. Zikkim's hilarious wordplay, which has a skull motif, is a playful approach to branding from a business owned by Park Gida alongside its sibling line, Pera Beer. This Turkish beer comes in three primary varieties:

  • IPA Zıkkım: Alcohol content is 5%

  • Weiss Zıkkım: Alcohol content 4.9%

  • Deep Zıkkım: Alcohol content 8.5%
