Marriage is defined as a continuing union of a man and a woman as husband and wife under all conditions of life. Because the family is the most important part of society, has given marriage a universal quality that helps keep this unity. For the wedding to happen, there are a number of steps and preparations that must be done and followed. Some religious and cultural practices are part of the different stages of marriage. At each stage, it has become necessary to follow a wide range of accepted practices, customs, and traditions. 

Every society has carried out the event of marriage following particular norms and patterns that adhere to their cultural pattern. Every region, province, and even every village in Turkey real estate has different and various customs for each stage of a marriage. I will try to describe the Turkish wedding traditions by focusing on their main points which are,

• Asking for the girl’s hand in marriage (agreement to marry),

• Henna night,

• Wedding ceremony.

Asking for the girl's hand in marriage 

Asking for the girl’s hand is asking for permission from the bride-to-be’s family. Both families agree on marriage which brings them to an agreement called an agreement to marry (nisan). Groom-to-be’s family purchases the rings and ribbon, also known as a little engagement ceremony in some Istanbul properties. The groom-to-be’s family brings a dessert which is given to guests when both families agree to let their children get married. Even in modern times, there are still some parts of Turkey real estate where the bride's future husband is not present during this ceremony. The groom-to-be and bride-to-be kiss visitors' hands in the bride's home, according to the father's consent. Following the introduction of the families, an agreement to the wedding ceremony is held. Here is the answer to every question that may arise during this process:

The bridegroom and his family came to the girl’s house confidently because they had bought flowers and chocolates like colorful bouquets and expensive candies.

The groom-to-be's family visits the bride-to-be’s family at their home, let me assume at Istanbul properties. 

• First, everyone talks and asks how everyone else is doing. 

• Meanwhile, the bride-to-be and her close friends begin making Turkish coffee in the kitchen. 

• The bride-to-be’s home, as well as the groom and his family, will be thoroughly prepared. 

• This day is chosen by families. 

• According to the custom, the agreement to the wedding ceremony takes place in the evening after dinner. As a result, there's no need for a big supper treat. 

• The bride-to-be serves coffee before the moment of request.

• The bride should serve coffee to the family elders first. 

• The groom is traditionally tested by adding salt to his coffee. Her family's approval is contingent on how he responds to that. If the groom hesitates and drinks the coffee with a negative reaction, the marriage likely will not be a happy occasion for anyone involved.

• As soon as the coffee is sipped, one of the groom's family elders delivers the expected speech.

• After the oldest member of his family has finished the speech in which they express their desire for the daughter, they will next cut the ribbon that connects the rings, thus concluding the ritual. 

• Following, the remaining pieces of the ribbon are cut up into bite-sized pieces and consumed to bestow good fortune upon the house residents who will marry.

Henna Night

Henna night is still a popular ritual. This celebration can take place at the bride's home, in a restaurant, or anywhere. The bride, as well as the guests, dress festively. The bride sits in a chair, her head, and face hidden by a long red veil.

• At first, sorrowful songs are played, and the bride sobs; after all, it is her last goodbye to her parent's home. 

• The future mother-in-law offers the bride-to-be a gold coin and begins the henna painting procedure after a specific ceremony accompanied by appropriate music.

• After the bride's tears have dried up, the music becomes more joyous. The bride and her guests then have fun dancing together.

Wedding Ceremony

The official wedding ceremony in Turkey real estate is normally held at the civil registry office; however, the marriage officer can alternatively come to the wedding hall or a place if desired. Remember that the bride arrives at the registrar's office in her wedding dress. On the wedding day, both the bride and groom visit the hairdresser, surrounded by friends and family members. The bride also gets her makeup and nail done. Sometimes the husband drives the bride right from the hairdresser to the registry office yet, typically, the bride returns to her parent's home to wear her wedding dress, and the groom then drives the bride away in a convoy of cars, accompanied by a drum and clarion team.

The bride's father, according to tradition, wraps a red ribbon around the bride's waist. It is considered to bring good fortune and wealth and represents the bride's purity. Typically, the bride and groom dance on the street before entering the wedding car.

The couple arrives for the wedding in a flower-decorated car. The bridal procession frequently honks through the streets. For good luck, white ribbons are affixed to the side mirrors of all convoy cars. It is thought that blowing a loud horn keeps evil spirits at bay. Occasionally, the path of the bridal carriage is interrupted by children, and some money must be paid to continue.

Finally, the bride writes the names of her unmarried friends on the bottoms of her shoes before the wedding ceremony. Whoever ends up with the name that is either the most illegible or the one that has been deleted the most often will be the next person to get married.
