Ortakent’s old name is Muskebi. According to the legend, it is the flowers of the tangerine trees in the region that gave Ortakent this name. Because the region smells incredibly beautiful, especially in the spring, they say it as sweet and after a while, the name Muskebi remained. Later, it was named Ortakent due to its location in the middle of the peninsula.


Ortakent is a town famous for its beaches. Yahsi Beach and Camel Beach are the two most famous beaches of Ortakent. It also has blue flag status. Ortakent beach is the second longest beach of Bodrum peninsula after Bitez.


Transportation in Ortakent 

Ortakent is at the crossroads between Yalikavak, Bitez, Turgutreis, and Gumusluk. For its geographical importance, it won’t be wrong to say that it is like a miniature Istanbul. 


After reaching Mugla by bus or plane, you can reach Bodrum center by using minibusses or minibusses in the city. After reaching the center of Bodrum, you can reach Ortakent by using a minibus or minibus. The distance of Ortakent to Bodrum - Milas Airport is approximately 40 km, and the distance to Dalaman Airport is 240 km.
