Guvercinlik is a tiny village at the tip of the Bodrum Peninsula about 30 minutes drive from city center. But its quiet is the antidote of Bodrum. Getting away from it all... The road coming from Bodrum ends in the middle of two adjacent coves separated by the
rabbit island (you can walk to the island when the tide is low).
This is a pretty and unspoilt village famous for its fish and seafood restaurants, and glorious sunsets. The dozen or so restaurants follow the the curve of a small and pretty bay. The whitewashed houses are bedecked with flowers - some were originally storehouses for the mandarins and lemons produced locally. Guvercinlik lies in a conservation area - the site of ancient Myndos, a classical city once powerful enough to mint its own silver coins. `Gummus' in Turkish means `silver'. Cars are prohibited and building strictly controlled |
